Project objectives
The My Learning Talk for self-assessment is a project by the Politecnico di Milano, integrated into the university's AI strategy, which uses artificial intelligence to support university students in their studies and exam preparation. The project was created to address one of the main causes of university dropout: the difficulty of developing an effective study method and correctly assessing one's own level of learning.
Through the enhancement of the My Learning Talk platform, made possible by a contribution from Fondazione TIM (Research Call), around 1,200 first-year students enrolled in Mathematical Analysis and Fundamentals of Computer Science courses will be able to access personalised support to practise, identify their gaps and improve their preparation. The aim is to strengthen student autonomy, increase exam success and help reduce university drop-out rates.
Innovative use of technologies
The platform integrates Generative Artificial Intelligence, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques and Agentic AI to offer an adaptive and personalised learning experience. Based on the courses' teaching materials, the system generates exercises, exam simulations and targeted feedback, adapting content and difficulty to the individual student's needs.
Unlike traditional chatbots, My Learning Talk for self-assessment guides students through a continuous journey of self-assessment, fostering greater awareness of their own learning and a more effective approach to study.
